PH Phactor - Barefoot John

PH Phactor - Barefoot John (Picadilly 241)

Portland, Oregand band that relocated to SF, hitting the ballroom scene and sharing the bill with all the heavy West Coast acts. They later recorded as the PH Phactor Jug Band, although this earlier 45 from the PNW days has a tougher sound.

I recently got this on the CD "Northwest Battle of the Bands Volume 3", which is an excellent compilation by the way. Great to see the label scan.

I'm a huge of P H Phactor, not just their music but their image and (early) place in the histories of both San Francisco and Northwest psych. Check out their posthumous LP for a really eclectic mix including the long Quicksilver-ish 'Rain Island'. The Magic Fern were similarly eclectic and they too had an album 'after the event' on the same label. Just don't get me talking about The New Tweedy Brothers.......

Oops, that previous comment should have read "I'm a huge FAN.......". The label for the posthumous LPs was Piccadilly.
